About Me

My name is Kyara Tristani Rojas. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. When I was younger, I wasn’t aware that filmmaking could be a viable career until I moved to Utah. As a kid, I always knew I was going to end up in a creative career because I have always enjoyed creating stories from nothing. But it wasn’t until I moved that I realized how much I love working with cameras.

I will never know why my first director trusted me to be his Director of Photography despite my inexperience at the time, but I will forever be grateful to him. He opened a door to the art of cinematography. A path in life that I have fallen in love with.

Capturing and breathing life into a film is such a rigorous process. You have to ensure all the variables line up and make sense on screen. But it is such a rewarding process. To have something that’s a staple of the time it was created in is such a fascinating concept. You, as a creator, have contributed to other future creations. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, everyone is inspired by someone else. Ideas always prosper from watching someone else's success. You have affected someone, and someone has affected you.
